The initial setup is super simple. Sturdy, quiet, gym-quality bike. I will probably add the hybrid clip pedals. I wanted a bike with little to no electonics that would be just fine operating without and this is it. Also super comfy seat is a plus because I am not a road cyclist. I would absolutley recommend.

It's great! I've put in miles and miles this year. A+

I’m 4’10” inseam around 26” 111 lbs and 63yo .. I measured my road bicycle seat to lowest pedal and it was 29” so unless I go to a seamstress lol in any event the bike set on 1 is perfect for me. I have seat all the way forward and handlebars all the way in. Tilted seat up a little I’m very comfortable riding and the reach to handle bars.
Putting it together was not difficult at all. It’s heavy so still in box I flipped box end over end to get it up and over the step up into and through front door set it right side up and from there I slid it into my room. Opened box at seams with box knife taking packing styrofoam some holding parts out threw it all on my bed and pulled/pushed bike out of box threw a few pieces of tape on box edges to hold the trash as I go. * bolts for front and rear stabilizer for sanity sake need to go in before you set bike but they don’t secure until you set bike and screw the nut on .. so they’ll drop down but you can with 2 fingers line it up and twist a little so it seats in square receiving hole. That being said had I thought of it I might have stuck a piece of duct tape or something to hold them in place might’ve been easier idk. I was able to lift end of bike up onto stabilizer and line up holes and get bolt seated. Everything else was pretty simple. The handlebars I needed my daughter to hold up so I could thread bolt. Someone else might be able to do both I needed the extra hands for that one step. Turning around and Moving it where I wanted was reasonably easy. I don’t do spin classes or anything like that I just needed an alternative to bad weather biking and I’m definitely happy with my choice. Hope this helps. Sorry if it’s long winded 🥹

My first spin bike and this is the one I chose due to decent reviews.
When I received the box you could hear loose metal or something inside. When I opened it, it was all the hardware loose from the broken bag it came from. The dent was from a screw pinned between the flywheel and bar support underneath. They could have taped the bag nicely in any part of the bike so it doesn't move just like the rest of the other stuff. Main thing is the dent does not have any bad effect on the bike.
Things added: 1.Resistance indicator from etsy. 2.A diy lever on the knob so I don't twist my hand when turning it, very easy to turning it now. 3.Wahoo speed and cadence sensor. The speed sensor is a bit tricky to install. It won't give you perfect speed output because of its placement in the flywheel not like the other spin bike but it's really close(a minus 0.10th), but it works. I don't use the electronics that came with it so I use my tablet for online exercises and my phone with wahoo app in place of that digital monitor.
Been using it for about a month now and no issues so far.

Pre-covid, I rode a Peloton bike at the gym every other day for a little over a year. I loved it and it made me love to workout, which I never really liked before. But, covid hit and my gym closed and I didn't want to pay that much money for a bike. After a very long period of no riding, I decided to buy the Cyclace bike. It was great in the very begginging and started making so many squealing sounds and I had to adjust things and grease things regularly and it would still be so loud. The sound was driving me and my family crazy. I eventually sent back that bike and bought this one. I haven't had it for long, but it is just a shockingly good bike. It is very close to the Peloton in smoothness of the belt, flywheel and resistance feel. I only have a couple of issues and they are small/or can't be helped in a bike at this price range. Here they are:

Handlebars: I am 5'11" with long arms and normally wouldn't even notice if something was not maybe the best for a shorter person. But, I think it is noticeable on this bike. The handlebars are set in a way that if I have the seat in the place it us supposed to be for my leg height and seat placement where it should be for my thigh length, the handlebars are about a half an inch too far away (see pic...I have it set as close to the seat as posssible). It is not a huge deal to me, but someone with shorter arms may struggle a bit. The handlebars are also a bit wider set than they other two bikes I have used. But, it has these inner bars set at an angle that I really like to use when I am in the saddle. The other thing is that instead of an iPad holder on the handlebars, it has two drink holders. I use it for my iPad anyway, but had to use two small bungee cords to secure it in place so it wouldn't fall during the more intense rides.

Resistance: the Cyclace bike had felt resistance pads and I really disliked that. It made a rubbing sound and I knew after I decided to send it back, I would get a bike with magnetic resistance. This bike has that and it is very smooth and can give you as heavy resistance as you could need (our of the saddle too). My only issue is that the resistance starts heavier than the other two bikes. Not too heavy, just I never would have that feeling of my legs just flailing. Which normally doesn't matter, but sometimes at the end of a cool down, I really like to open it up. But, it isn't a big deal. But, the bigger issue to me is how many cranks it takes to get from the lower resistance levels to the higher ones. It feels like the resistance doesn't change that much for several turns and then it heats up pretty quickly. This makes some intervals a little harder when you go out of the saddle with high resistance and then a quick seated recovery. But, I am getting used to it and I am wondering if the company may know of some little tweaks. I haven't reached out to them.

All in all this is a really awesome bike. It is so quiet, so smooth and very sturdy. There is no sqeaking and squealing so far. I really hope it stays that way. Peloton is nearly perfect for me, but this bike is so close behind it. When you factor in the cost of both bikes, it is a no brainer to go this route, at least if you are a thrifty person like me.

I am so happy with this purchase! The only thing that could make it better is a resistance output, but at this price range, you just wont find that. I use my heart rate to guide resistance.

Some things that I use to make the spin experience of even better is:

Peloton app (12.99 per month without the bike. Worth it!)
Wahoo cadence tracker (it displays on the Peloton app and is so easy to attach to your pedal arm)
Spd pedals and clip in shoes (to me it is a must after starting at first with regular shoes).
Fitbit- I set it to spinning and use it to watch my heart rate. It really helps to guide how intense I set my resistance.

I also use a TV tray next to the bike to hold my a small fan, my weights and my water. It works great and you can just tuck it away when your done (see pic).

I also didn't purchase a mat and it works great on hard floors. I do keep a small rug next to it so when I get on a off, I don't scratch the floor with the clips. I leave my bike in the same place, so I don't know how easy it would be to move it around, but it has the wheels on the front.

That is it. If you are on the fence, I would absolutely recommend it. If anything changes, I will update my review.

I settled on the Joroto X2 after doing a comparison of many spin cycles with the most important factors being price, magnetic resistance, adjustability and overall quality. I am not an avid cycler so not knowing all the important details to watch for, I overcompensate by watching many reviews on YouTube and reading reviews here.

My wife and I both use the bike. I'm 5'10” and she is 5'2” so having full adjustability of the seat and bars is great to have. The adjustments are easy to make and they hold tight. One complaint I've seen in these reviews is that the handle of the adjusters can be obstructed by the handle or seat post. Actually, the handle is well designed and this is not a real problem – just pull the handle outward and it can be repositioned to eliminate the clearance issue.

The ride is very smooth and quiet. The bike feels solid, stable and has very little give. The resistance has a wide range which is great for sprints or hill climbs. When the resistance is set to maximum, I can feel the belt slip a little. I have reached out to customer support and so far they have been very responsive. I hope to get that resolved because otherwise, I am very much enjoying the bike.

One other note is that the computer does not have RPM or Cadence. If you plan to do a virtual ride or use an exercise app, you will likely want to add a sensor.

Overall, I am satisfied with my choice. If any changes happen, I will update the review.

TL/DR: Order this bike. Stop searching and just order it - its quiet, sturdy, and comes with a community to help you diy peloton it!

I ordered the Joroto X2 at the start of the 2021 as a way to take online studio spin classes from home. I wanted to get in on the ‘peloton’ craze, but as a medical student, definitely couldn’t afford the $1800 price tag. Enter DIY Peloton Hack, and the Joroto X2.

I read a lot of diy tutorials online and watched way too many YouTube videos comparing affordable home spin bikes. Consolidating this information, I determined that (at a minimum) I wanted a magnetic resistance (quiet and lower maintenance), belt driven (no maintenance) comfortable bike. The Joroto x2 ALSO had 4-way handlebar and 4way seat adjustment, which is great !

Diy peloton summarized (and my upgrades):
Joroto x2 bike
Wahoo cadence monitor
Monthly peloton digital app membership (13$/mo)
iPhone table clamp *see note*
Etsy.con resistance gauge (~30$, helps keep track of resistance you are at).

Overall, I am very impressed with this bike. It arrived professionally packed, was a breeze to set up (20 minutes, max) and has served me well. My only criticism would be two things with the handlebars.
1) The phone/tablet holder doesn’t hold my (older iPhone 7) in horizontal mode. My phone is just a bit too short to be stable, however my iPad mini is stable! I prefer using my phone, so i added an iPhone table clamp that I had sitting around, and it works great!
2). The bars are a little on the thinner side. As someone with larger hands, I have considered wrapping the handles to make them more comfortable. though this hasn’t impacted its function, and may actually be a benefit (spin instructors are always reminding us not to ‘’squeeze’’ the handlebars, something i definitely am not doing!

I want to add that there are many FB groups for people who use this peloton hack/digital app users. This bike is one of the most common bikes purchased in this community, which means there is a community of people to offer help customized to this bike! I didn’t know how to best attach the cadence monitor and many people in the fB group offered suggestions and sent pictures from their Joroto X2 bike to help me!

After 4 months of using this bike I am SO HAPPY I decided to make the purchase! I really believe that having the bike in my bedroom has made it easier for me to follow my goal of at least 4 rides per week. I get all of the major benefits of a peloton, without the high cost! This bike is sturdy, smooth, and looks great! With the addition of a cheap cadence monitor, it fulfills everything I need. So happy with this purchase, and I have encouraged at least two friends to buy this bike and join me on peloton classes!

Bought this bike at the end of December 2020 and loved it at first! It was quiet yet durable and I felt like it was well made. I still really do want to like the bike but after three months of use it broke. Everytime I turned the resistance knob it wouldn't work and the resistance level stayed the same. I only ride the bike twice a week so it's not heavily used yet it broke after 3 months (about 40 rides). I contacted the company and they were great with a quick response and even shipped out a new resistance knob free of charge. What I didn't like is they sent it without instructions of how to replace it. When I searched online for directions they could not be found. That is my only downfall with this company, otherwise I am very impressed with their response! I am also sad that after three months of use the resistance knob broke (again I am no spin guru and don't heavily use this). When taken apart it looks like the nut inside the resistance knob was stripped completely causing the resistance not to move. Again I didn't use this bike enough to strip it the way it was stripped. Tomorrow I plan on using the bike again and see if it truly is fixed. Fingers crossed! I really do like the bike and how smooth of a ride it is! I also appreciate how quick the company was to help figure out my problem. I just worry the same problem will happen again with the resistance knob 3 months from now. Time will tell I guess.

I have been using this bike regularly for slightly over 6 months - and for approx 30 mins every day. On the plus side, it is almost noiseless. The magnetic resistance works like a charm. Assembly was easy although the bike is quite heavy to move. The provided wheels work well for moving it on level ground or on ramps - but you will need help lifting it up or down stairs. Using the bike regularly helped me lose about 10 lbs in 4 months and got me back in the habit of exercising. Recently, I've noticed that the belt is getting worn down and this causes it to slip off the grooves near the pedals and jam the whole cycle to the point of being unusable. I think a chain drive would have been better for longer term use than a belt drive.

UPDATE: 04/25/2021

JOROTO customer service was extremely helpful and responsive after I emailed them about the belt issue. After assessing the damage to the belt, they shipped a new bike to me within a few weeks of contacting them. I will try this new bike out and hopefully the belt will last longer on this one. I would give 5 stars to the JOROTO customer service team for their prompt attention to this issue. Thank you!

We had a spin bike for a long time that gave out on us, so we were in the market to replace it. We didn't want to spend a ton of money (we do the Peloton app), but we wanted an upgrade for what we have.
Good: near-silent, the only thing that makes noise on the bike is the resistance knob, which squeaks (and could potentially be remedied by some WD40
Bad: It was difficult to put together. There was a piece that was poking out inside of the main post, so we couldn't immediately get the handles in. My husband had to pry the metal piece off and then push in the plastic bit.
Also, please note that if you use your iPad or iPhone, you can either use that OR the water bottle holders but not both at the same time. I was hoping I could use one for water bottle, and then the other for my iPad, but it just doesn't work.
I also have to get used to the resistance bulb. You have to turn it a lot to get it to add or remove resistance. During spin classes, your instructor will indicate what level to put the bike at, and you may have to turn the knob for a good 30 seconds before it gets to where you need it to be. So sometimes I just get done adjusting the resistance and then the instructor is done with that portion and asks you to decrease it again.
It comes with a computerized bit that measures your calories, distance, and speed. I wish it measured resistance and cadence.
In general, good bike for the price.

After years of laziness, I finally decided I needed to get myself back into some sort of reasonable fitness. After quite a bit of research, I settled on the Joroto X2. Reviews were good and I wanted magnetic resistance. I use the peloton app, so this was my entry to test out whether I would stick with trying to keep fit. My plan is to get the peloton bike if I stick with this for 6 months.
The bike is a heavy bike so set up takes a little while. Unpack the box as you would a large tv, open the end of the box then life the box over the bike rather than try to life the bike out of the box. I watched the video Joroto have here for the assembly, and it’s all straight forward. Just make sure you follow the instructions when it comes to the pedals so you don’t strip the threads. There’s been some talk of pedals coming off. I haven’t had that issue.
I cast the peloton app to a tv I have set in front of me, have added a wahoo cadence sensor, and the set up is pretty good. I am getting some seriously good workouts from this. The flywheel at 35Ibs has enough weight to provide a nice smooth ride and the resistance adds plenty of stickiness to the pedals. If you look on line, you can find conversion tables so you can roughly match the resistance to the resistance call outs of the peloton instructors.
The one issue I have had is an issue I’ve seen others have. For the first week, the bike was lovely and smooth, and quiet. Then all of a sudden I started hearing a loud rubbing sound. I first thought it was the flywheel, but it turned out the be the belt cover. When new, there is about a quarter inch gap between the cover and the pedal crank. This was now rubbing. I started taking out the screws to take the cover off to take a look, but I’ve found with a couple of the screws out, it takes a bit of pressure off the cover and the rubbing has stopped. The cover is still secure and does not impede pedaling.
Overall, I would have no issues recommending this bike, it works great with the peloton app and I am getting in some seriously good workouts. I’m 240lbs, 6’ with a 32” leg and I fit. Another couple of inches taller and I’d probably be at the limits of the bike. One other tip I’d have is don’t bother hooking up the little computer. It’s pretty crap and without it you get more handlebar options whilst riding.

I did A LOT of research on spin bikes before choosing this one. My friend has the same bike and recommended it, but I was wary due to the numerous reviews about issues, especially the clicking of the pedals. I will address that issue in a moment.

The bike is HEAVY! Be aware of this if you are attempting to put together yourself. I am a 5' 4" female who weight trains and the box weighs a ton. The frame and flywheel is the heaviest part. That said, it was super easy to put together if you watch the video through once then start and stop as you proceed to assemble. Took about 45-60 minutes. I had an issue with the seat - when I went to loosen the bolts to attach, the entire housing fell apart. Hard to ride a bike without the seat. Emailed Joroto and in less than 24 hours I had a response with a video on how to reassemble. It wasn't easy but after a few tries, success, and I was riding that night after my work day. Be very careful when attaching the pedals. Watch the video (link included in instruction materials on a separate card) and follow the directions as shown - this is super important.

Okay, let's talk about the pedals. I didn't tighten the straps on the cages as I thought unnecessary. I excitedly jumped on the seat and began to pedal. It started immediately - click, click, click. I shifted my foot, it stopped, then again, click, click, click. Damn, I got a defective bike. After slowing down and looking as I pedaled, I discovered the issue: the metal bracket on the strap was banging against the pedal. I tightened the strap on each pedal to where I could still slip my feet in and voila! NO MORE CLICKING! I wonder if this is the issue on others' bikes. It seems so simple and rather silly, but my sound was exactly like those I heard on reviewers' videos. I also noticed my shoestrings were tapping as I rode (I ride fast), so I tucked them into the pedal cage and no more issue. I've ordered laceless bike shoes that will eliminate this issue as well. So, lessons learned? If you hear clicks, check your laces and the metal pedal strap and I bet this is the cause.

So, how's the bike? AMAZING! I have had for a little over 2 weeks and gave it serious use before this review. It is wicked quiet, smooth, and really kicks your #%&. The resistance takes a second to kick in when you adjust but when it does, you feel it! The rack is super convenient for water, phone, tablet, remotes, etc. The little monitor is simple but useful. It seems to time faster than my smartwatch, but no harm no foul. I just received the Wahoo speed and cadence censors I ordered and will be using them to hack the bike for use on Zwift - going to check that out this weekend. Overall, I am SO HAPPY with my purchase. My spare room is now my home gym and with my bike, weights, resistance bands, and rebounder, no more gym membership for me! I hope this review helps anyone hesistent after reading about some of the issues. Just do it - you won't be disappointed!
